HIP, HIP, HOORAY! ERIN BUENGER, diagnosed with stage IV neuroblastoma in July 2002, in treatment continuously since then, including:
- five rounds (fifteen weeks) of induction chemotherapy,
- 12-hour tumor resection surgery,
- tandem (two) stell cell replacement with high dose chemo and total body irradiation,
- six rounds of local radiation,
- six rounds of high-dose accutane, and
- seven tumor vaccines
COMPLETED TREATMENT AT TEXAS CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL ON THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 11, 2003 AND IS CURRENTLY (AND STILL) SHOWING NO EVIDENCE OF DISEASE.
Please celebrate for her or with her!

Please think of Erin on Thursday, 9/11. She will be in Houston for the (hopefully) last time as a patient under treatment. She will receive her last tumor vaccine Thursday morning and after that will be officially (and hopefully permanently OFF-TREATMENT). Of course, we will continue to have blood tests and routine scans, but we pray that we are closing the book on the chapter of her life called "I am treated for cancer."
